Birmingham's DK3D Animation wins Entrepreneur Spotlight award
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sept. 5, 2012 – DK3D Animation, a digital animation firm founded by Darlena Kelly, was honored by the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) at its 2012 Entrepreneur Spotlight Awards reception on August 23 at B&A Warehouse in Birmingham. The event was held by the BBJ to honor trailblazing startups and young companies that have distinguished themselves as top entrepreneurial achievers and innovators. A total of 15 firms were honored at the event.
BBJ’s Anna Thibodeaux said, “Our 2012 Entrepreneurial Spotlight Award Honorees are guided by an internal compass. Serving as a sort of financial GPS, this foresight gives them the vision to hold the line and keep moving in spite of the more than 60 percent failure rate in young companies at least three years old or younger.”
Kelly is president of the company she started in 2009 while maintaining a full-time job and supporting her young family. After building a track record of success, she committed herself to building her business full time in early 2012.
DK3D provides 3D animations that create in-depth virtual tours and innovative training simulations, taking viewers into places they could never visit – such as the inside of a powerful piece of manufacturing equipment or inside a blast furnace.
